Miranda Oberman

Miranda Oberman graduated from the University of East Anglia with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 1999. She then worked at St. Richard's Hospital in Chichester to complete her junior rotations before taking a senior post, specialising in neurology.

Her roles included working on the newly established Stroke Assessment Unit, the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit and Donald Wilson House (the Young Person's Disabled Unit). She gained experience working with newly diagnosed strokes, spinal cord injuries, head injuries and long-term neurological conditions.

She moved to Cambridgeshire in 2004, where she worked as a senior physiotherapist in community and out-patient settings. She worked with an Integrated Rehabilitation Team, supporting people with long-term neurological conditions and facilitating hospital discharge and the return home for people with newly diagnosed stroke, head injury and spinal cord injury.

She also helped in the development of a hydrotherapy service for people with neurological conditions and with the setting up of physiotherapy groups for people with multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease.

She has spent some time overseas as a volunteer physiotherapist, including working in Bangladesh in their nationally acclaimed Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed in Dhaka.

She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology (ACPIN). She has completed both the basic and advanced Bobath courses. Miranda joined ‘heads up!’ in March 2007.
