MSc (Manip Ther) MSc (Sports Med) BSc (Hons) Phys, MCSP, MMACP
Carolyn completed her Honours Degree in Physiotherapy at Manchester University in 1990, and moved into private practice in 1993. During this period she developed an interest in sports injuries and worked with an American Football team, and a professional basketball team.
In 1995 she moved to the USA to study for her Masters in Sports Medicine which entailed working at a prestigious sports medicine clinic and with a College American Football team. She was able to gain huge experience of both ‘pitch side’ medical intervention and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
On returning from the USA she worked in London at a leisure centre treating athletes both recreational and professional, and clients included students attending the local college of performing arts. She then moved on to working at the Crystal Palace National Sports Injury Centre.
Her continued studies include completion of a further Masters in Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2004 at the University of Brighton. This allowed her to become a member of the Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP).
She has conducted research into knee ligament reconstuctions and knee cap dysfunction, presenting her findings at the International Federation of Orthopædic Manipulative Therapists (IFOMT) Conference in Cape Town in 2004, and in the same year the Chartered Physiotherapy Congress.
During her time in private practice she has developed a special interest in the treatment and rehabilitation of knee injuries, and in conjunction with this the study of lower limb biomechanics and gait assessment. She believes in the pro-active treatment of pregnant women especially those suffering with pelvic problems and SPD, believing in correcting the muscle weakness of pelvic dysfunction.
She has recently studied to use clinical pilates and the reformer as part of her clinical practice.
Carolyn enjoys many different sports, pilates and dance. She is a keen swimmer, cyclist and a slightly reluctant runner. She is kept busy when not at work bringing up her three children.
