Emily Whatling

Emily completed her BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree in 2004 at Oxford Brookes University having previously graduated from Salford University in 2000 with a BSC (Hons) Sports Rehabilitation degree.

Emily gained her NHS experience for 2 years before being accepted on to the UK Sport Fast Track Practitioner Programme based in Sheffield at the English Institute of Sport.  Here she was taught and mentored by leading Sports physios and was exposed to sports such as Handball, Volleyball, Synchronised Diving, Boxing and Athletics.  Emily went on to gain a full time position with Great Britain Handball, supporting them in Denmark and the UK for 2 years.

After returning south and working for London Irish in the English Premiership, Emily then moved to Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre to work full time with England and GB Hockey.  She has been here for 8 years and has been an integral part of their physio team sharing in huge successes for the sport.  Emily’s involvement in elite sport has spanned 3 Olympic Games and 2 Commonwealth Games, Rio being her favourite due to its challenges whilst being the most rewarding.

Emily’s vast experience obviously focus’ around sports but uses those skills to adapt to any patient that presents themselves to her.  She is very much a hands on physio whose manual therapy skills are complimented by her Acupuncture qualification and Kinesiology taping skills.  Emily enjoys treating ankles, knees and shoulders particularly and uses many forms of exercise rehabilitation, education and self-management strategies to empower patients.
