Mrs Brenda E Smith

Mrs Brenda Smith is a Registered Dietitian, who qualified from Kings College London with a Bachelor in Science in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2009. She is soon to be awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Allergy from Southampton University. Previous to dietetics she worked in finance.
Brenda has practiced as specialist gastroenterology and specialist weight management dietitian for NHS services. She has worked privately with adult and adolescent mental health disorders and has experience in mild to moderate eating disorders. She began full-time private practice from May 2018.
Brenda was recognised for her evidence based and effective practice; twice nominated for patient excellence and showcased on effectiveness to other health professionals and the Clinical Care and Quality Commission.
Brenda provides a range of dietary treatments. Related to the gut: irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) which can be caused by lactose intolerance, FODMAP or other intolerances caused by natural food chemicals (that can mimic allergy), multiple allergies, coeliac and other disease such as Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis, Liver Disease, Pancreatitis and post-surgery ileostomy/colostomy, high out-put and short bowel syndrome. Related to mild-moderate eating disorders: dietary assessment, support for weight gain and refeeding. Related to weight management: weight loss, cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
Brenda is registered with the Health and Care Professional Council and the British Dietetic Association, including their Allergy and Intolerance Group and Gastroenterology Group. She is also registered with a number of private health insurance companies, including BUPA, AxaPPP, Aviva and Vitaity Health.
Apart from clinical work, Brenda is a wife and mum of two boys, who enjoys learning about other cultures and keeping fit.
